Lagging and talking

The Ace Attorney as a whole is awesome. I have two issues with this game.
Lagging. I always reach a certain point in the first trial where the game lags out. (Athena is using her widget emotion-thing on Juniper) I have tried multiple times but it seems my device cant handle the more complex mechanisms of the game.
Talking. I am all for dialogue - I love hearing characters and their mannerisms. But I feel like the majority of the game that I actually got to play was like a movie. I barely got to do a cross examination - most of it was the characters.

(I have no issues with the price of the rest of the content or anything)
